The Author
DM Hukill was born in the derelict industrial memory of Des Moines, Iowa; a pit in the confluence of the Des Moines and Raccoon rivers. For many years, his city's downtown streets cleared by 6pm while the homeless filled up blocks of empty warehouse space, warming canned foods over open flames to the sound of screeching train wheels. There are still places in the city where you can see ghosts of those unwilling to leave.
Not having the good fortune to taste silver on his tongue, Hukill has held a number of jobs including construction, food service, security, private armed chauffeuring, news reporting, bartending, groundskeeping, and the new feudalism of a corporate call center. Hukill also co-owns and operates The Slaughterhouse haunted attraction in downtown Des Moines.
Hukill's writing is often described as Regionalism flecked with horror; a snapshot of the wild and haunted post-empire America.
Although Hukill has received formal education, and had initially pursued a career in the field of his choice, he is no longer interested in proving himself to the scholastic platform-driven literature butt-sniffing world. He has been published in select outlets of his choice, and continues to write in the hope of one day reaching millions of interested, and interesting, readers.
